"EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT" AND "SELF-REGULATION" PSYCHO-EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR SPECIAL TALENTED CHILDREN  

"EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT" AND "SELF-REGULATION" PSYCHO-EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR SPECIAL TALENTED CHILDREN

"Emotional development" and "self-regulation" psycho-education programs are prepared in order to support social, emotional and academic development of special talented children enrolled in the Science and Arts Centers (BİLSEMs). The program which can be viewed at orgm.meb.gov.tr web address is the first practice based study for special talented students in Türkiye.

Psycho-education program for supporting emotional development of students enrolled in BİLSEMs based on their special needs aims at assisting students to recognize their own and other's feelings, adaptation and flexibility in personal relationships, empathize and control their feelings.
 
Meanwhile, the Self-Regulation Program is designed with the purpose of helping special talented children to develop their own learning process and management skills. It aims at helping students to learn more about their own learning process, define future goals, make plans, plan strategies and monitor their own learning process.
   
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that the program was designed by considering the special needs of students.
 
"Currently, there are 315 BİLSEMs in the entire country and we are aiming at increasing the number of these centers to 350 until the end of 2022. We are also working in an effort to increase the quality of education offered in these centers. Emotional development and self-regulation programs for special talented children are designed within this framework. It is the first practice based student for special talented students in Türkiye," said Minister Özer.
