MINISTER ÖZER CALLS ON STAKEHOLDERS TO SHARE THEIR VIEWS ABOUT TEACHING PROFESSION LAW REGULATION DRAFT
The Ministry of National Education has prepared a "Candidate Teacher and Teaching Career Steps Regulation" concerning the newly adopted Teaching Profession Law. Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer called on teachers, administrators and all stakeholders to share their views about the regulation draft.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced that the "Candidate Teacher and Teaching Career Steps Regulation" concerning the newly adopted Teaching Profession Law was shared through the official website of the Ministry and called on all stakeholders to express their views and suggestions.
"The Teaching Profession Law was published in the Official Gazette and came into force and ended 60 years of a long expectation. This is an important historical step in the history of education of Türkiye. The law is the indicator that shows how our government values teachers. Our county is now among the OECD countries that has a special law about teachers. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency the President for his support," Minister Özer said.
Regulation draft is opened to the views and suggestions of teachers and education community
Minister Özer pointed out that the regulation draft is published in the official website of the ministry 'meb.gov.tr' and will be open to the views and suggestions of stakeholders for a month. The regulation sets out training programs for teachers and other requirements for becoming expert and head teachers. The Ministry will make required amendments based on the suggestions and views until March 15 and submit the final version to the Presidential Office.
As of today, existing expert and head teachers will start to benefit from the rights granted by the new law
Minister Özer stressed that there are currently 75,669 expert teachers and 88 head teachers in the education system and they will start to benefit from the rights granted by the new Teaching Profession Law.
Expert teacher and head teacher training programs will be free and private school teachers will also benefit from this right
Minister Özer pointed out that not only teachers working in schools affiliated to the Ministry but also teachers working in private schools have the right to attend training programs and receive certificates required to become expert or head teacher.
These training programs will be free and include minimum 180 hours long courses for expert teacher programs and minimum 240 hours long courses for head teachers.
Teachers who have completed post graduate programs and worked at least 10 years as teachers will be exempted from expert teacher exams and teachers who completed doctorate programs will be exempted from head teacher exams.
