MINISTER OZER: MINISTRY IS ACTIVELY MOBILIZING ALL ITS RESOURCES IN 10 PROVINCES

Continuing his work in the quake-hit areas, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that the Ministry was actively utilizing all its resources in the 10 provinces hit by the earthquake. 

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the evaluation meeting held at the General Directorate of State Branch in Malatya.  Minister Özer stated that the ministry actively uses all its resources in 10 provinces in the service of citizens.
 
Stating that they are also mobilizing to provide shelter and dietary needs for those affected by the earthquake, Özer said that they host approximately 251 thousand citizens in the schools of the Ministry of National Education, teachers' houses, hotels and in every place where accommodation is available.
 
Stressing that a remarkable mobilization has been achieved, especially in the food and beverage sections of vocational training practice hotel facilities, Özer announced that they have reached the capacity to serve 372 thousand hot meals per day in 10 provinces in Türkiye and continue to increase the capacity every day.
 
Noting that 24 mobile kitchens in vocational high schools were deployed to 10 provinces hit by the earthquake, Özer stated that as the Ministry, they aim to deliver hot meals to approximately 500 thousand people.
 
Minister Özer: "2 thousand 500 teachers are working in the field"
Referring to the search and rescue cooperation that the ministry continues in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and AFAD Presidency, Özer stated that approximately 2 thousand 500 teachers have voluntarily completed training and have now been transferred to the region. He added that 660 teachers in Malatya are cooperating with AFAD teams, with the Turkish Armed Forces and gendarmerie helping with rescue efforts.
 
Pointing out that damage assessment studies continue in schools, Özer also noted the Ministry has also carried out earthquake reinforcement in schools in the last two to or three years as a ministry.
 
Reiterating that schools were closed across the country due to the earthquake, Özer said that general managers, heads of departments and provincial directors from different provinces are monitoring the processes in the field, not only in Malatya but also in all other provinces. Stating that we will extend the permits if necessary, Özer emphasized that they will be focusing on the well-being of both teachers and students to help cope with any trauma the disaster has caused.
