MINISTER ÖZER: WE WILL ALLOCATE 8.9 BILLION LIRAS INVESTMENT BUDGET TO İSTANBUL IN 2022

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the inauguration ceremony of Süleymanşah Anatolia High School which was constructed as a part of  the TOKİ and Gaziosmanpaşa (GOP) Municipality's urban transformation project. Özer stated that his Ministry allocated the largest share of the investment budget to İstanbul adding that they are planning to allocate 8.9 billion liras to the city in 2022.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated in his speech during the ceremony that the most valuable capital of the country is human resources adding that Türkiye has been witnessing an important education development process in education in the last 19 years under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
 
Noting that the country has taken giant investment steps in an effort to increase schooling rate at all levels of education and encouraging children to continue their education, Minister Özer recalled that the number of classrooms in the country has increased to 855,000.
 
"The schooling rate which was 44 percent in the 2000s reached 90 percent today. Net schooling rate in higher education which was 14 percent in the 2000s increased to 45 percent. There were around 500 thousand teachers in the education system in the 2000s and now there are 1.2 million teachers," said Minister Özer.
 
Özer stated that Türkiye has achieved desired figures at all levels of education 70 years later while OECD countries achieved their goals in the 1950s.
 
"Women benefited most from education campaigns"
"Women benefited most from education campaigns. 40 percent of teachers were women in the 2000s and now 60 percent of existing teachers are women. There has been an important increase in the schooling rate figures of female students. The schooling rate among female students which was 39 percent in the 2000s increased to 88 percent today," stated Minister Özer.
 
He noted that Emine Erdoğan played an important role in this success and that the Ministry of National Education has initiated a project under the auspices of Mrs. Erdoğan in an effort to encourage dropout female students to continue their education.
 
Özer mentioned about education investments of the Ministry adding that 50 percent of recently appointed teachers are assigned to İstanbul.
